Brighten up your day!

Alcatel got in contact with me a week or so ago and told me they had a cool device that I might be interested in trying, sure enough I was!
So in this market of smartphones, what does the Alcatel A5 LED have that sets it apart from the crowd?
Well the most obvious is the nifty LED case integration!
Let’s talk a bit about the basic tech stats and then we can talk about what this phone is all about.

So the specifications aren’t anything out of the ordinary on a mid range phone nowadays.
It has a decent battery size, sharp colourful screen, good build quality, decent cameras and all the things you would expect in this price range.
One thing that did worry me was that it runs on an older Android OS, but in practice it doesn’t really affect it a whole lot, hopefully they will give a software update at some point!
The cameras in particular are actually rather pleasing, although they do lack a little dynamic range and sharpness when compared to higher priced models, but for this range it is on the better end of the spectrum.
The front facing camera is a lot better than most competing brands, thanks to it’s higher resolution AND handy front facing flash.
This is especially helpful in low light and can really change the tone of a shot.
Fantastic for those wannabe Influencers and Snapchat fiends!
As I mentioned earlier however, the main focus of this phone is the inclusion of a deeply embedded colour LED case and the options this opens up.

You have a variety of colourful options that include and utilise the optional LED case.
Whether this be playing the built in interactive games that bring it to life with colour and sound, have it bumping away to the music you are playing, or just letting it run a preset display.
It’s especially stunning at night and is actually a useful feature when it comes to notifications.
You can have a specific colour flash or play whenever you get a specific notification or text, so being able to easily and instantly recognise if it’s something important you need to reply to is very helpful.
The multitude of presets like meteor, flames, fireworks, all give off a pleasing animation on the case and is sure to keep those around you feeling a little jealous!

Sitting at the sum of £135, the Alcatel A5 LED is an attractive option, it runs the majority of apps smoothly, is fairly speedy, gives good image quality and has that funky LED case.
You couldn’t really expect much more at this price!
