A Budget friendly camera beast?
Infinix is a relatively new company to the electronics world, starting in 2013, designing phones in France and manufacturing in China.
They recently sent me their latest release, the Zero 8, with a 90hz screen and 64mp rear quad AI camera and 48mp front camera.
The Zero 8 has slightly above average specs for it's cheap price point but a nice sounding camera setup, does it impress? Let's find out!
First off the Zero 8 has a nice handheld feel to it, it has some weight to it, it is plastic as expected in this price range but does have Gorilla Glass 3. It fits neatly in my hand and everything is easy to reach.
Let's take a little look at those internal specs:
OS: Android 10 with XOS 7
Display: 6.85" full HD+ with 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate
CPU: Octa-core MediaTek Helio G90T
RAM: 8 GB
Internal storage: 128 GB
Battery: 4,500 mAh with support for 33 W fast charging
Cameras: Rear - 64 megapixel primary sensor and 8 megapixel secondary sensor, both with ultra-wide-angle lens, depth sensor, and ultra-night video/Selfie - 48 megapixel primary sensor with 8 megapixel secondary
Cooling: Multi-dimensional liquid cooling
Fingerprint scanner
The fingerprint reader is snappy, apps load quick, the screen is slick and looks vibrant enough.
From first looks there isn't much to complain about with the Zero 8, it matches or exceeds many other low to mid range phones.
There is a large battery with fast charging which in my opinion is absolutely vital nowadays.
It took me around 13 hours to run down the Zero 8 with a full days use which is mighty impressive.
The main part of this phone that I am sure most people will be buying into it, is the cameras.
It has 4 cameras on the rear, that can work individually or together to create a 64MP image.
The top camera is a 8MP Ultra Wide-Angle Camera, which allows up to 2.5cm macro, which gives great details up close. It also has autofocus which is amazing to see!
The left camera is the ultra night video camera which has a pixel size of 2.8um, which is 2-3x most conventional phone cameras.
The right camera is essentially a depth sensor that enables the bokeh and 3D effects in photo / video.
The big boy camera is the centre one, which boasts a whopping 64MP Ultra night Sony IMX686 6P sensor, with 4K video and 960fps slow motion.
I tested each of these out and overall was very impressed. There is most definitely a benefit to using the 64mp options and HDR in most instances, with enhanced detail, clarity, sharpness and dynamic range.
Onto the front facing cameras, there are two options which are both quite impressive, there is an 8mp ultra wide-angle camera and also a 48mp ultra night camera which also supports 4K video!
These provide great results and looks rather good, especially in this price range.
Overall, the Zero 8 is a great phone for someone on a budget that would really like some great looking photos and to do some gaming.
For the price of around $250 worldwide, it's an affordable phone that has a lot of potential.
