Imagine a platform where every photo of yours can be converted into a visual masterpiece with only a few clicks.
This is exactly what Fylm.ai wants to achieve, a cloud service that helps you achieve your grading.
Let’s dive into what makes this platform a potential NEED for photographers and filmmakers alike.
A Warm Welcome with a Sleek Interface
The first thing I noticed about Fylm.ai was just how neat it’s interface was.
Everything is condensed down into two sidebars, one on the left that houses the adjustments and one on the right that houses your media and organisation.
Unlike some other software that I’ve found rather intimidating and even cluttered, this is a refreshing change of pace.
I scouted out each button in the sidebars and got a handle on it rather quickly, you couldn’t ask for much more.
The Power of AI: Your New Best Friend?
At the heart of Fylm.ai lies it’s advanced AI-powered colour grading capabilities.
They have the benefit of enabling AI to analyse your footage or photos, considering colour balance, contrast, exposure and then giving proposed colour grades as a starting point. This comes in the form of NeuralToneAI and NeuralFilmAI tools.
I tried these on a variety of images and found them to be quite helpful in a few cases, although there were a few instances where I thought the options given were really out of the tone of the shot provided.
Honestly, I don’t think ANY software can get it right every time, but considering how easy it is to click one button for these results, it’s worth trying it!
Most of the recommendations provided via either the NeuralToneAI or NeuralFilmAI tools are there to give you a base point to start grading, but I am sure there are people out there who would be happy with those results as their end point for quick shots.
There are also tools such as AI Exposure, AI Contrast, AI Colour Match and more.
These give you a one click solution that apply variations of adjustments, which should more than likely benefit your image.
LUTs and Beyond: A World of Possibilities
Fylm.ai gives an in depth library of Look-Up Tables (LUTs) that cater to many genres and styles. Whether you are aiming for the gritty realism of a documentary or the vibrant, saturated tones of a music video, there's a LUT for that.
The platform's real-time LUT preview function is really helpful, allowing you to see how the LUTs will affect your footage.
The LUTs are packaged in bundles such as Studio Pro, which gives you LUTs based around studio filming, for that clean cut look.
My personal favourite has to be the Cine World Pro Warm package that gives a natural warmth and depth to colours and footage.
Advanced Tools for Precision and Creativity
While the AI and LUTs offer brilliant starting points, Fylm.ai also offers a complete suite of advanced tools for folks who need to dive deeper.
From colour wheels and curves, to filmic response curve adjustments and colour management pipeline, you can refine your grades with extreme precision.
The platform enables RAW imports and offers splendid export options, ensuring that your final product has professional fidelity.
Collaborative and Community-Driven
One of the standout functions of Fylm.ai is its collaborative element.
The platform allows you to share your work and grades with other creators or your clients and begin a discussion.
That enables people to view your current milestone and have an honest chat about what is good and what is bad, perhaps areas of the image that need refinement.
Fantastic way to exhibit your work and get the necessary tweaks ready for the final product.
Seamless Workflow Integration
Fylm.ai is designed to integrate seamlessly into your current workflow.
It supports diverse formats and fits smoothly with the most popular imaging and filmmaking softwares.
Whether you're operating on a short social media clip or a feature-length movie, the service has you covered.
I was primarily using it for images in Lightroom or clips in Resolve, it worked perfectly in both aspects, with exports of Lightroom presets or LUTs.
So why try Fylm.Ai?
Let’s face it, we are in a world SATURATED with services and products that are attempting to incorporate AI to help creatives. However many do fall short or feel ‘gimmicky’.
This to me makes Fylm.ai stand out, as this is an area where AI can truly assist us.
By analysing images and comparing to a trained network of cinematic and photographic context based knowledge, it can make quick adjustments that will hopefully put you closer to your destined result.
Again, it’s not perfect, I definitely had to tweak 90% of the results, BUT it did save me time and energy by doing certain things in a single click.
As it stands, it’s a powerful, clean piece of cloud software that allows you to incorporate it’s tools into your pipeline, anywhere in the world.
While the tools may not necessarily be ‘revolutionary’, they will most likely save you time and get your creative juices flowing.
I certainly see it as a product that will continue developing long term, growing it’s AI tools to a point that we will have something very special one day.
