In these present times, home security is paramount.
We all have expensive gadgets or at least things very dear to our hearts, that we would miss if some nefarious person was to break in to your property.
One way to deter wannabe criminals or even catch them and bring them to justice, are security systems. Whether these be sensor based or camera based, some form of security is a welcome addition to any home.
IMOU have a range of security products that will aim to keep your property secure, such as this Ranger IQ indoor camera.
It has A LOT of features such as:
- PTZ with 355 degree pan and 90 degree tilt
- Human detection with smart tracking
- Sony sensor with colour night vision
- Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity
- Two way talk capability
- Built in Siren
- Cruise Scanning Mode
- Privacy Mode
- MicroSD + cloud storage
- Alexa, Google and IFTTT functionality.
- Compatibility for network video recording systems
- Links to other IMOU security gadgets
First off, I have to say it’s extremely easy to set up, you download the app, scan the QR code, connect it to your WiFi and you are set to go.
The app itself does a decent job, nothing spectacular but easy to navigate and find what you need, such as hourly time slot recordings etc.
You can also connect the app to Alexa, Google Assistant and many other services, to trigger recording or alerts as you see fit.
One standout feature is the Human detection and tracking, you can designate areas of the room to ignore and areas to keep an eye on. Once it detects movement, it will recognise if that is a human or an object and either track them or ignore them.
You can set it to record EVERY movement, but you’ll get a lot of random curtains swaying or pets moving etc.
This feature works very well and you even get notifications to your smartphone of ‘Human Detection’ knowing that this may be an important alert to look at.
The main thing that you will consider when buying a system is the image quality, there is no point tracking someone if you cannot later identify them clearly.
The Ranger IQ has a great 1080p full HD image, you can very clearly get facial features, clothing, objects and movement.
Even at night time, thanks to the Sony Starlight sensor, you can get colour nightvision and not just the typical black and white most others give.
The footage will be saved on MicroSD or you can alternatively buy their cloud services, which not only stores stuff locally, but on their servers for fast and easy retrieval over longer term.
I was impressed with this camera, it packs A LOT of high quality features into a tiny body that is easy to setup and use.
I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting to up their security, it also opens up connecting it to other IMOU products, keeping your property safe with cameras, sensors and more.
The IMOU Ranger IQ is priced at £85.99, which is a competitive price point for all these features. It’s available from Amazon at https://geni.us/y0efRiB, use code SIUG3WLV for a discount.
