Having infiltrated pop culture for over eight decades, appearing in over 2,000 movies, countless music videos, and held high at festivals and concerts, the Zippo lighter has won the hearts and minds of people the world over.
The Zippo lighter’s ‘click’ is now officially among the most recognizable sounds in the world. Granted first in the United States, with other markets set to follow, the trademark has been awarded in recognition of Zippo’s careful manufacturing process which produces the highly distinctive sound, synonymous with the windproof lighter. It joins an exclusive line-up of other trademarked sounds including The Hunger Games’ Mockingjay Whistle and famed MGM Lion roar, among others.

In a survey of 1,000 adults*, nearly two thirds of people said they interact with an object with their hands to relax, as a distraction, or for enjoyment. When asked about the effect of ASMR, nearly half recognized that is relieves anxiety. One in 10 said that it can help them feel more energized, creative, productive, and even better able to problem solve and overcome obstacles like writers block. Additionally, 70% of people stated that familiar sounds, such as the Zippo Click, instigate a positive emotional response.
To further celebrate the sonic signature and diverse sensory experience it offers, the brand has curated an ASMR lighter collection, featuring iconic designs including the MultiCut High Polish Chrome with Enamel Flame, Wrapped Zippo Flame Emblem, and Antique copper lighters. The Flower of Life, one of the earliest examples of sacred geometry, represents the eternal link between space and time is shown on the back of this lighter.
The Tree of Life engraved onto the front and The Flower of Life on the back, really show the attention to detail provided by Zippo, intricate and bold, a great depth for you to run fingers along and even your nails for that ASMR feeling.
The Antique Silver finish really makes it look like a finely aged piece and gives it that extra luxurious texture you desire.
Our second sample was the gorgeous Zippo Bolts Design.
Riveted and riveting, the crown jewel of the Choice collection is an Armor™ High Polish Chrome windproof lighter with 360º MultiCut engraving and a clean industrial design.
The Zippo flame adorns the side of the lighter and is filled with a translucent red epoxy.
This sample really showcases the 360 degree MultiCut engraving that Zippo has adopted, every edge, facet, bolt is superbly engraved, leaving incredible industrial design and texture to the Zippo body.
Just holding it in your hands and running your fingers over the design was enough to give a response, so it fits the ASMR niche extremely well.
Not to mention the actual design is beautiful, from the gorgeous engraving, to the Zippo flame design in bright red on the front, it all holds down a functional and stunning designer piece.
Overall I am really impressed with the Zippo ASMR collection.
